Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us during our flood recovery efforts! During the past weeks, volunteers have donated over 2,300 hours to help clean out affected homes in the area. Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity has received over $20,000 in monetary donations from IVHFH donors. In addition, we have received many donations of food, water and supplies for our staff and volunteers. We truly appreciate everyone’s hard work, time, donations, and encouragement! We are winding down our hands on efforts and are now implementing a Flood Recovery Grant Program.
Flood Grant Program
Thank you to all who applied for the IVHFH Flood Recovery Grant Program. We are happy to announce over $60,000 was awarded to families within Cedar, Johnson, and Iowa counties to reconstruct and replace utilities and mechanical equipment (not including appliances) and to help winterize flood-affected homes.
We would like to thank the Community Foundation of Johnson County and the Rockwell Collins Flood Recovery Fund for their assistance in helping flood victims.
Flood-Related Mission:
Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is fully committed to flood relief efforts in Cedar, Iowa and Johnson Counties. To fulfill this end, IVHFH will shift focus from new home construction to ensuring existing housing is ‘safe, decent, affordable.’
Our dedicated staff is enthusiastic to clean out—or ‘muck’—homes in the Iowa City area. However, all the mud, mold and mess can take months to repair. In terms of supplies, resources and staffing, Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity will be extremely stretched throughout the duration of the recovery phase. Despite our finite ability, your support—both voluntarily and financially—is critical to our efforts. In order to have a successful impact in our community’s crisis, will you consider donating the following items?
