Partnering with Habitat:

While Habitat promotes affordable building for partner families, the ReStore is an avenue for all community members to maintain their homes. The ReStore accepts donations from the public and sells them back at a discounted rate. This retail center allows items to live longer and to be recycled in a responsible way. The proceeds are reinvested into the constrution costs of Habitat homes within the community.

So, this sounds too good to be true?  Nope!  Since our inception in January 2005 the citizens of Johnson County have made significant contributions to the area.  By re-channeling good, usable materials from the waste stream and selling them to those who want them, we have:

  - $200,000 given to Iowa Valley HFH affiliate
  - 200 tons of material diverted from area landfills
  - 80 tons diverted this year alone
  - 5,000 customers a year
  - Helped countless families maintain affordable housing
