The Furniture Project –Help Someone Make a Home
The Furniture Project (FP) is a program that provides good used furniture, such as beds, dressers, table and chairs, to local households in need at no cost. The Furniture Project is sponsored by the Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center; donations are managed by the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The Furniture Project serves all of Johnson County and the communities of Kalona and Riverside in Washington County.

How to Donate Clean, Gently-Used Furniture
Furniture may be donated in one of two ways. A tax-deduction receipt is available. Please see the list below to determine what the Furniture Project accepts; this list is based on what people need.
1. Donors may drop off furniture at the Habitat ReStore from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. The ReStore is located at 2401 Scott Boulevard (map).
2. Donors may call the ReStore at 319-338-5687 to schedule a pick-up. A $10 pick-up fee will be charged.

How to Receive Furniture
1. Referrals will be given through partner agencies. Families will be allowed three pieces of furniture each; please work directly with your agents to determine which three items are most important.
2. The Furniture Project is located at 625 McCollister Blvd (south Gilbert Street just passed the softball fields).
3. Open Houses will be open the second and fourth Tuesday for clients to come and pick out furniture. Look at the calendar below for specific dates.
Remember! The Furniture Project does not deliver furniture or load--please come prepared. Furniture will be distributed on a first come first serve basis, and items must be taken same day.
