About the Interfaith Committee

Picture
For more than 25 years, we have worked with congregations of various faith traditions. Because each of the major religions is organized around common values of love, kindness, justice, and service, partnering with Habitat for Humanity is an ideal way to put faith into action. While we are proud of what we have accomplished together, there is more work to be done. So, in an effort to strengthen our current partnerships and create new relationships, we have formed the Interfaith Committee. Members of the Committee help spread word about our work, recruit volunteers, assist in fundraising campaigns, and advocate for affordable housing initiatives. Any person of faith is invited to join and lend a hand as we pursue our mission.

Interfaith Committee's Mission
Bring together members of various faith traditions, share common values, and put faith into action by supporting Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity’s affordable housing initiatives.

Interfaith Committee's Vision
An active group of individuals from various faith backgrounds working toward a community where everyone has a decent place to live.

Interfaith Exploratory Meeting

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity hosted community members representing more than 15 faith groups at the Interfaith Exploratory meeting on November 7! This meeting was a fantastic start and we will continuously challenge one another to get more individuals and groups involved.Thank you all for showing your support, sharing with us a little about your faith, and expressing your passion and desire to work together. We focus on affordable housing because housing is so fundamental to the health and success of individuals, families, and communities. I, personally – and we all at Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, including those we partner with – look forward to having you with us. Our communities will benefit from your involvement.

In peace,
