Handcrafted Walnut Mirror by Barry Kucera-Hammers and Hardhats Live Auction

ABOUT THE HAMMERS AND HARDHATS LIVE AUCTION
This exclusive package will only be available during the live auction at Hammers and Hardhats on September 18. Learn more about our event here. If you can’t attend but would like to set up proxy bidding, contact [email protected]. For more information on proxy bidding, please see below.

Don’t miss your chance to own a stunning, one-of-a-kind mirror handcrafted by longtime Habitat supporter Barry Kucera. Measuring 18” x 25”, the frame is crafted from walnut reclaimed after the devastating 2020 derecho. Barry’s expert touch brings out the wood’s natural beauty with a polished satin finish that feels like silk, a fluid, graceful silhouette, and a flawlessly even grain.

Barry, a retired carpentry instructor from Kirkwood, has supported Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity for decades, alongside his wife, Sue, through generous contributions, volunteer work, and donating numerous tools and household goods to our ReStore. Moreover, Barry has shaped Habitat’s legacy through his ongoing mentoring of our very own Construction Manager, Christy Shipley, beginning nearly 20 years ago. Christy credits Barry as an early encourager and mentor who recognized her determination, talent, and potential before she even began her Habitat career.

This piece is truly one of a kind. Barry Kucera finished the mirror with a message on the back: "Please reflect on the good quality housing you are supporting with the purchase of this Women's Build 2025 mirror. Peace, Barry Kucera."

This mirror is more than just a work of art—it’s a reflection of Barry’s craftsmanship, his commitment to Habitat’s mission, and the enduring impact of mentorship.
